The season finale was held at its traditional location of Kyoto, Japan, but not at the traditional circuit.  Past seasons ended on the Oval Reversed, this season ended on the long and challenging Kyoto Grand Prix Long Circuit, with boothy chicane.  Forty-four laps were scheduled, making this race a long and challenging one.  Four drivers came into the round with a decent shot at the title: Jarl Teien, Robbin Heijerman, Simon Cattell, and Sampsa Jurvansuu. Jurvansuu needed a win and the others to finish mid-pack or worse, while the others were all very close together.   A cracker of a race was on tap.

The race started with the three main contenders all in the top 6, with Jarno Lehikoinen on pole.  The standing start had to be aborted due to technical issues, making the start a rolling one, behind the Safety Car.  Off the start, intense action brewed in the pack.  Robbin Heijerman had many problems early, all but eliminating him from the title fight.  Cattell meanwhile, was marred behind Teien, battling with Joe Holmes and others.  When Lehikoinen made his compulsory pitstop around halfway, Teien and Cattell pressed on hard to close the gap to Lehikoinen.  Both title contenders pitted at the same time, with Simon cutting the entry chicane as tight as possible to gain time, but lost it on the pit exit.  Both drivers had managed to overtake Lehikoinen after the stop, with Cattell coming out right with Lehikoinen.

Cattell was stuck battling with Lehikoinen for a few laps as Cattell's tyres came up to operating temperatures.  After clearing the My3id driver, Cattell began to chase down, and slowly but obviously reel in Teien.  With only a handful of laps remaining, Cattell was on the gearbox of  Teien.  Teien allowed simon through on the banked oval section, and tucked in behind, and retook the place into the boothy chicane.  This move caught Cattell off, breaking his rhythm, and Cattell was able to regain the lost time, but unable to overtake.

Jarl Teien won the race, and the championship, over Simon Cattell.  Jarno Lehikoinen came in  3rd.  An amzing race, with battles all through the field, and an amazing season.  ineX Racing took the team title over Genuine Racing, and Great Britain wins the Nation's Cup.

New Dimension Racing  would like to thank all the racers who participated in this season, as well as all those who watched the race on any of the streams we provided.  We intend to be back in April/May 2001.
