LFSCART 2011: Round 4 Results PDF Print E-mail

The fourth anuual Kyoto 500 was an interesting spectacle, to say the least.  Extreme competition at the front for the bulk of the race, but also a record number of cautions, and a record race length made it the slowest Kyoto 500 in history.  Race duration was 3:57:46.04, for an average speed of 125.249 mph.  Something of everything was seen at this race - a red flag for a massive crash at the start, causing a complete restart, and another red flag just past halfway due to a moment of multiple simultaneous disconnects causing the server failure procedures to be initiated.

The Kyoto 500 seems to have two curses - winning the pole and having the team with most entries.  So far in the four runnings, no one from the most represented team in the field has won, and the polesiter has never won the event.  The event so far seems to reward the least known, the most adaptable to what needs to happen.  This year, the crown went to Robbin Heijerman of Genuine Racing, who worked with Jarl Teien in the late part of the race to stay in front of the field, taking his maiden LFSCART victory, and being the 4th winner in four runnings of the Kyoto 500.
