The third annual Kyoto 500 was run on its traditional last Saturday in June, and even with a grid one row short of full, a great race was seen.  It was the slowest Kyoto 500 in history at an average speed of 143.3942 mph, but the event was still hignly competitive.  There were 14 different leaders and 96 official lead changes through the duration of the event.   It was also the Kyoto 500 with most finishers, with 17 of the 27 starting cars arriving at the chequered flag.
